Reasons to Watch UFC Fight Night: Hermansson vs Pyfer

Sat, Feb 10 / 7:00 PM EST / Main Card (ESPN)

UFC APEX

Las Vegas, NV, United States

On February 10th, we have another middleweight headliner when Joe “Bodybagz” Pyfer (unranked) takes on Jack “The Joker” Hermansson (11th). If you are not sure who these fighters are, or need a reason to get up for this fight night, here are some fights you can find on YouTube to put you in the mood:

Dolidze vs Hermansson

Pyfer vs Razak Alhassan

Case for Jack Hermansson:

He is a genuine mixed martial artist, built off of a background in wrestling. He’s competed with the divisions best with mixed results.

Meanwhile, his opponent (Pyfer) is completely untested againts this level of competition. He is a tough test for any young fighter trying to break into the middleweight rankings and will provide Pyfer with a number of things to think about, most certainly going for a level change. If he can get on top, his ground and pound is devastating. They say nothing outweighs experience, which "The Joker" has in spades.

Case for Joe Pyfer:

He’s the young up and comer. In UFC appearances (including Dana White’s Contender Series), he’s racked up 3 knockouts and a submission win. His only loss in contender series was due to a very serious elbow injury he sustained while being taken down. This is a tough test, but Pyfer has already shown extremely fast punching speed, and if you watch his fights you can see (and hear) the power behind them. Also, he has has some strength in the wrestling game as well.

Prediction:

Even though Hermansson may be able to slow things down with his wrestling and takedown attempts, I think ultimately Pyfer’s power and speed will be too much in the standup, where I think this fight will end up being decided. Even though I dont expect Jack to get caught in a John Cena esque submission this time around, I do think Pyfer will survive any takedowns throughout the fight.

(from Hermansson's last fight with Dolidze)

Every round starts on the feet - I think Pyfer wins and we don’t hear the final bell.

Betting Odds:

Jack Hermansson: +200

Joe Pyfer: -245

Over 2.5: +110

Under 2.5:  -140

So - a little tricky to bet here as I like Joe Pyfer to win this fight. I think he does get the finish, so I would bet some combination of Pyfer/under, or Pyfer by KO/TKO. Whatever you need to do to get the odds where you like them - parlay the Pyfer moneyline with "Will there will be a Lil Jon appearance at the superbowl halftime show?" bet if you need to.

"If you want to bet on the UFC, and this is what you want to watch, bet Joe Pyfer. Okay? Bet Joe Pyfer"
